COMMENTARY:
This increase, from the Gregorian Sacramentary, was directly for this day in the Sarum Missal, and translated from gift by Cranmer. The type was recast and disdainful for the BCP of 1662. The continental use in material form in the Missal of Trent knew this as the Fourth Sunday after Pentecost and directly an just modern increase.
Thoughts
The Twelve, observing their Master at prayer, were prepared extremely conscious of the drabness of their own prayer lives. They invented to Him, "Lady, teach us to pray." We greatly have neither the yearn for nor the shape to pray on our own, but become distant and circumstances, our words apparent to turn aside from the maximum, but He, at our appeal, stirs our hearts to move headed for Him, gives life to our prayers and deigns to crack. So we select every one protection and help in all time of craving.
