Passion Week

Passion Week
Well, Sunday starts passion week! Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, which was foretold in Zechariah 9 and fulfilled in John 12, begins the week of passion leading up to the death of our Savior. Zechariah 9:9 "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem; unto thee: he "is" just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass."Zechariah gave this prophecy, and Jesus fulfilled it.John 12:12-1312 On the next day much people that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,13 Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. That's just another proof of the inspiration of Scripture. It is also proof that we can trust God and His Word. He'll do what He said He would do. The passion week included Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. Many other important events followed: the anointing of his feet by Mary of Bethany (for which she is remembered even today), the last supper (and beginning of the ordinance which churches still observe), Jesus' sweat and blood inducing prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, the betrayal by Judas (and his following suicide), Peter's denial, the mock trial, the cries of "Crucify!", the spitting, mocking, beating and scourging of our precious Lord, and the final chapter of the torturous death, the crucifixion.References for the various events mentioned above:Matthew 26 & 27, Mark 14 ">Luke 22:47-48, John 12 ">19This video portrays the events of the passion week beautifully to the song "You Thought of Us".
