Esbats, derived from the French esbattre, meaning "to pat down," are gatherings or solitary rituals believed every month on the night of that month's full moon, to worship the goddess as represented by the moon. Dependable groups and solitaries may provide for their esbats on the night of the new moon, in spite of everything.
